Once again the common explanation is that these things are left for the poor (like charity or tzedaka) and explanations regarding how Ruth (the famous convert that we read about on Shavuos) was able to survive because of the kindness of Boaz who was meticulous in this Mitzvah (Torah commandment). Ruth because of her dedication over and beyond expectations was to have a King descend from her, David Hamelech. (Yes the same David who conquered Goliath of the Davidic Dynasty who’s lineage our future Moshiach is suppose to descend form)."
