TheWritersCafe.org: "the leader of our group was explaining in rather fine detail, that the arc which served to carry the leucos (tablets) was not made of one piece of wood that was covered with gold on the inside and outside.
Rather the arc or Aron was made of three separate pieces that nested into each other. The amazing thought that occurred to me at the time, that the construction of the Aron haKodesh (Holy Arc) was similar in the way that the embryo develops from three primary germ layers, which is the first significant aspect of, when the primordial or undifferentiated cells, beging to become different, and start building the three dimensional structure of living things."

Leave a little, Kedoshim 19:9 Gleanings | ChaiDomains.com: "east consider the following sentence of Torah which Kedoshim 19:10 which explains ” not to pick the undeveloped twigs nor gather the fallen fruit but to leave them for the poor and the convert” Hashem reminds us in this same pusek (sentence of Torah) that He is Hashem our G-d. (Our esteemed seder hostess for ths 1st Seder night, told us that this phrase is often used in Torah pesukim that are either difficult to keep or important.
Once again the common explanation is that these things are left for the poor (like charity or tzedaka) and explanations regarding how Ruth (the famous convert that we read about on Shavuos) was able to survive because of the kindness of Boaz who was meticulous in this Mitzvah (Torah commandment). Ruth because of her dedication over and beyond expectations was to have a King descend from her, David Hamelech. (Yes the same David who conquered Goliath of the Davidic Dynasty who’s lineage our future Moshiach is suppose to descend form)."

"If so," asks the Talmud, "the Torah could have written only 'scales,' without having to also write 'fins'." On a deeper level, the Talmud is asking, why is it important to emphasize the need for fins in developing a "kosher" human being? Why does an emphasis on ambition constitute part of a moral and "kosher" education? Why not just focus on integrity and ethics?
The Talmud's answer is marvelous: "This is so that 'Torah be increased and made great.'" This means that our spiritual mission consists not only of professing integrity and morality, but also of developing our full potential materially and spiritually. G-d wants us to be good; but He also wants us to be successful and shine; to utilize all of our talents and resources to transform the landscape of our planet into an abode for the Divine; to make the Torah "great and large.""

Frum Find The Place To Find All Things Frum (Blog): Larger List Yeshiva or Private Jewish Day Schools
Frum Find The Place To Find All Things Frum (Blog): Larger List Yeshiva or Private Jewish Day Schools: "Would I feel comfortable to send my daughter to a Yeshiva High School which offers "mixed" instruction in general studies? The answer is a definite no. So while I may have included both conservative Yeshiva High Schools as well as those offering "mixed" general studies classes, it is by no means my intent to state they are "frum".
Indeed while clearly our Rabbis have already concluded that the "conservative movement" may have been a "major setback" for Torah observance; it is not my place to likewise label schools that offer "mixed general studies" while still claiming orthodox status to be abything other than frum. I simply feel that after being in the Yeshiva system for 5 years in an "all girls school that 'was not" a Beis Yaakov school, yet did not offer mixed classes, that it would be be far from ideal if my daughter would now be "compelled to attend such a school" simply because a proper (non-mixed) Yeshiva High School could not be located."

Frum Find The Place To Find All Things Frum (Blog): About Rabbi Ginsburgh « The Wonders of Your Torah: "About Rabbi Ginsburgh « The Wonders of Your Torah: "Rabbi Ginsburgh is one of our generation’s most respected authorities on Jewish Mysticism. He is acknowledged by both the religious and academic communities as an integrator of the mystical tradition as has not been seen in Judaism for many generations. Every class or lecture that he delivers is a tour-de-force of powerful insight, intellect, and creativity. Hundreds of spiritual leaders view him as their mentor and teacher and his impact on Torah scholarship and Jewish spirituality increases from day to day.
Rabbi Ginsburgh currently produces enough material for publishing a full-length book every month. After years of searching for the right way to make his original teachings available to the public, we have opted to use wordpress as a platform. All the posts on this site are written by him. They represent only a small portion of his daily output. To follow Rabbi Ginsburgh’s teachings properly, please see the additional sites in our links section.""

Jewish view of Modesty, dress, clothing
Jewish view of Modesty, dress, clothing: "today view one another. For all of us, it is practically impossible not to identify a person with his or her outside.
To see how true this is, think of someone close to you whom you haven't seen for some time. Now imagine running into her and discovering that she's dyed her hair and completely restyled it, gained 100 pounds, and undergone cosmetic surgery which has radically changed her features. It's probably difficult for you to internalize the fact she is still the same person. We want to identify one another by our inner selves, but the ability eludes us.
Originally, when they saw body and soul as one, man and woman had been naked and unashamed. Now, for the first time, they instinctively felt the need to put something on."

Parshat Ki Tavo: The Secret of the Altar at Mt. Eval: "are shin, yud, and dalet, which permute to form one of God's Names, pronounced: Shakai (but spelled: shin, dalet, yud). The numerical value of "plaster" (סיד) is 314, the same as "the field" (השדה). Hence, we see that the plastered altar of stones on Mount Eval alludes to the tree of the field. As we learned in our meditation on the Torah portion of Shoftim, the tree of the field represents man. The phrase "tree of the field" equals the "pleasure and serenity of the Almighty," noam Shakai. In our context, the word noam means the pleasure of the Torah itself, whose "ways are ways of pleasantness." This pleasantness now manifests on the mountain of the curse in this miraculous altar.
Transforming the Curse into Joy
The image of the altar of stones on Mount Eval is the culmination of our meditations on the Torah portions of Ekev, Re'eh and Shoftim."

Jewish view of Modesty, dress, clothing
Jewish view of Modesty, dress, clothing: "infinite number of ways. Upon meeting you for the first time, people may immediately see "stocky build" or "curly hair." After spending a bit of time with you, they may notice "artistic" or "athletic." After getting to know you, they may be able to see you as "emotionally complex" or "a highly abstract thinker." And just as others can view you on different planes, so, too, there are any number of ways in which you can view yourself.
Tzniut begins with looking past your more superficial layers and seeing who, on the deepest level, you are capable of being. Tzniut then means gradually learning how to convey an important message to others -- and instilling it in yourself.
The message that tzniut asks you to project is "internality": that of all the parts of you, it is your innermost self by which you want to be defined. In order to convey this message, you must know when and how to reveal your body, your abilities, and everything else that makes you up, so that these don't hide but instead express who you really are. The challenge of tzniut is to project every aspect of yourself in such a way that it draws the focus to your true identity."

A Jewish View on Gender Differences | Men and Women
A Jewish View on Gender Differences | Men and Women: "God created the man in His image; in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them. And God blessed them. (Genesis 1:27-28)
Why “them”? This was before the creation of Eve!
The Jewish Oral Tradition provides us with a fascinating insight into this grammatical oddity. The first human, it tells us, was really an androgynous being, both male and female in one body, sophisticated and self-sufficient.
But if God had created such a complete human being, why the later separation into two parts, into Adam and Eve?
The answer given is that God did not want this first human creation to be alone, for it would then possess an illusion of self-sufficiency. Note that there is no word for “independence” in classical Hebrew. (What we use now, atzma’ut, is of modern vintage.) The concept of independence doesn’t exist in Jewish tradition. Aside from God, nothing and no one is really independent. Since we are supposed to ingrain into ourselves that God is the source of everything, self-sufficiency would have been a spiritual defeat."

The important point that R. Rosenblatt went on to make was that while it was actually a self sacrificing thing for Moshe to busy himself in this manner, that it was the most important thing for his spritual development to do so. In the great rabbinic tradition of giving over what previous rabbis have explained R. Although Yom Kippur is an intense holiday it is nevertheless viewed as a happy day. Why? Because if one has observed the holiday properly by the end of Yom Kippur they will have made peace with others and with God."

My mom had some contact with her family however she survived by specifically making it a point not to reveal her Jewish identity to the families where she stayed. The entire family was able to survive World War II, and come to the United States They were not religious when they were in Poland, so naturally they were not religious when they began their life in the United States"

www.RabbiJosh.com: " Rashi argues for the existence of two arks, a view which, among other things, emphasizes that that which is holy cannot go out to war–death being the antithesis of the Holy of Holies. Ramban likewise maintains that the ark could not go out to war, but he goes a different route, saying that there was never a second ark. The ark mentioned here by Moses is a temporary ark, but bears a continuity of relationship with the ark that would ultimately be created by Bezalel and put in the Holy of Holies."

Frum Find The Place To Find All Things Frum (Blog): New school on the block - The Jewish Standard: "The Jewish Standard
New school on the block - The Jewish Standard: "Amid a turbulent economy, an increasing number of day-school parents are suffering sleepless nights wondering how to scrape up enough money to cover tuition fees of $15,000 or more per child. Some parents are even opting out of day schools altogether.
Lauren Ariev Gellman understands their predicament. As the mother of three elementary-school-aged children, she was often frustrated by the high cost of her children’s day school and the relatively mediocre education it offered.
Instead of complaining, Gellman, of Highland Park, sought a solution. Her response to the “yeshiva tuition crisis” is the Pre-Collegiate Learning Center of New Jersey for eighth through 12th-graders, which will open at the East Brunswick Jewish Center in September.
The nondenominational Jewish school will offer a full curriculum of general and Judaic studies, including many self-paced individual-learning opportunities. The annual tuition, in contrast to many area Jewish high schools that cost upward of $20,000, will be $5,000.""

New Day School Alternatives Set For Fall In N.J. | The Jewish Week
New Day School Alternatives Set For Fall In N.J. | The Jewish Week: "The Modern Orthodox school, which will open with a kindergarten and first grade, adding more grades each year, is not the only (or even the cheapest) low-cost day school starting in New Jersey. Just 40 miles away in East Brunswick, the Pre-Collegiate Learning Center of New Jersey — a pluralistic Jewish high school slated to open this fall — will charge just $5,000 a year, a fraction of the tuition at most private high schools. Meanwhile, a planning group in Teaneck is working to establish a low-cost yeshiva that would open in September 2012."

In addition, there are other parts of our Torah (separate from the 5 books of Moshe) which are still considered Torah. Something I always enjoy doing is to find some novel interpretation of our Holy Torah and share it with others either verbally or via this website."
